FRV Station 73.

On June 1st 2026, MrKobi and 19 families visited Fire Rescue Victoria Station 73 in Bendigo for an engaging and educational behind the scenes experience.

Half of our tour focused on hands-on learning giving children the opportunity to explore the station, inspect the fire trucks and learn about the specialised equipment firefighters use every day. Highlights included experiencing the smoke room and using a real fire hose. Children also got to see protective uniforms and equipment firefighters rely on when responding to emergencies including thermal imaging cameras used to see through smoke.

One of the most memorable lessons was learning that firefighters have just 90 seconds to put on their gear, board the truck and be ready to respond when an emergency call comes in.

The second half of our tour took place in the station's training room. Children participated in a fire safety session where firefighters shared practical information about preventing fires, staying safe in an emergency and the important role Fire Rescue Victoria plays in protecting our community.

The tour provided a unique opportunity for children to learn directly from local firefighters, gain valuable fire safety knowledge and experience the dedication and teamwork required to keep our community safe.

“There were so many amazing experiences for the kids it’s hard to choose just one! If we can name a couple it would definitely be going through the smoke room and shooting water from the fire hose!”

What an incredible experience! I didn’t expect anything so hands on. The kids havnt stopped talking about the smoke room. Thank you for organising, we really enjoyed the morning”
