Silent Steps together Initiative
Our last stretch before the run.
During the month of June leading up to the race, we will run an initiative called Silent Steps Together in respect of Tahlequah and her relevance to our movement.
Who is Tahlequah?
Tahlequah is the orca whale that gained international attention for carrying her calf for 17 days.
Her calf had tragically passed away and she carried her baby roughly 1,600 km.
After the seventh day, other members of the pod began taking turns floating the calf while allowing Tahlequah to rest.
We have designed an initiative to reflect on Tahlequah’s journey.
How will it work?
Over 17 days in June, our community will work together to complete 1,600 minutes of movement in honour of Tahlequah.
We hope this initiative reflects the importance of support and not carrying grief alone.
We will have a movement tally on our website, including names, minutes completed and a photo if participants are open to it.
